MS960 Heavy Duty Fixed Tooth Mulcher for Skidsteer
The MS960 Baumalight brush mulcher is a 60” heavy duty bush mulcher with a 75” Path width and it has turned into a very popular model for mulching with average to large skidsteers.
The 900 Series teeth are available in either Double Carbide Tipped Ripper or Single Blade Planer style. The carbide Ripper tooth is the good general use tooth for mulching with lots of ground contact, if there are not many stones then the Planer tooth is a little bit more efficient.
The 900 series skidsteer mulchers also come with a larger pressure gauge which is very handy to watch and see how close you are to maximum pressure; once you start blowing over relief the mulcher becomes very unproductive so you do want to keep an eye on the pressure.
Operating a Brush Mulcher from a skid steer is probably the most comfortable way for vegetation management as your work is directly in front of you and new skidsteers are very operator comfort focused.
See our brush cutting size chart to see what limb size this heavy duty skidsteer mounted forestry mulcher can handle.

REPLACEABLE BOLT-IN LINER
Save time by easily replacing the AR400 steel wear plates on the MS960 without needing to remove the rotor.
INTEGRATED PUSH BAR
The integrated brush bar helps control the brush and bend taller brush for easier mulching.
DIRECTIONAL FELLING HOOK
Built into the pusher bar, the directional felling hook will directionally control wayward trees, sprawling clumps and low hanging limbs.
ADJUSTABLE SKID SHOES
The two replaceable skid shoes allow the operator to adjust the cutting height for optimal clearing performance.
ROLL BACK TO FELL STANDING TREES
The MS960’s frame is angled so that you can roll back the Brushy Mulcher, pulling back the pusher bar so that you can fully engage the mulching head. This allows the operator to use the mulching head to fell standing trees.
SPRING LOADED HOSE SUPPORT
Take full advantage of the forward curl and roll back of the MS960 without risking expensive damage to the hoses. Unique to the Baumalight Brush Mulcher, the spring loaded hose support prevents the hoses from falling into harm’s way during forward curl.
CURVED HOSE BRACKET
The new curved host bracket provides better support of the hose while reducing the risk of pinching or chafing.
ARMOURED AND SLEEVED
Baumalight hoses are sleeved for the operator and hose protection. A pivoting arm is also standard with a greaseable pin keeping the slack out of the way which protects the hoses from dangerous pinching and strain.
CENTERED ADJUSTABLE HOSE SUPPORT
To accomodate for different skidsteers that have the couplers on different sides, the MS960’s hose support is positioned close to the centre of the mulching head and has an adjustable hose.
ADJUSTABLE BELT TENSIONER
The adjustable belt tensioner ensures the proper tension of your belts, with no extra idler wheel that could wear out. Simply loosen the bolts and raise the motor mount to tighten the belt.
BENT AXIS PISTON MOTORS ARE A STANDARD OPTION
Our industry leading bent axis piston motors make the most use of your hydraulic flow and pressure for your brush clearing needs.
OPTIONAL TWO-SPEED MOTOR
To maximize the rotor speed and torque to account for changing mulching material, the MS960 is available with a variable two-speed motor option.
PRESSURE GUAGE
Large PSI pressure guage for maintaining the optimal flow that gives you a clear indication of the most efficient brush mulching performance.
CASE DRAIN – VENT TO ATMOSPHERE
To prevent pressure relief activation on the motor seal, the MS960 comes with a case drain line and a vent to atmosphere relief valve. In the event there is a spike in pressure in your hydraulic lines, the case drain will relieve the pressure and drain it back into the return line and back to the tank. If the connection of the case drain (third line) is missed or if the line is blocked, then the case drain will vent to notify you. A properly installed case drain protected by a vent to atmosphere relief valve will save the work of replacing your shaft seal and save you from down time of unexpected maintenance.
WIRE PROTECTION KIT
If you are mulching and you catch some old fence wire, it can really cause damage to the unit if the wire slips over the edge of the rotor and gets wrapped around the shaft. The wire can get bunched against the bearings, causing major damage. Our wire protection kit contains a welded raised area on the end of the rotor that protects the shaft and prevents wire from getting in.
CHAIN CURTAIN
The rear of the unit is guarded by a 3/8” thick chain curtain so standing brush enters and mulched debris exits.
HEAVY DUTY FRAME
Now completely redesigned for the 900 series Brush Mulcher, the heavy duty steel frame is constructed with T1 alloy tool steel sheet metal.
HEAVY DUTY SKIDSTEER PLATE
Also redesigned for the 900 Series Brush Mulcher, the skidsteer plate is constructed with heavy duty steel with lots of gusseting and reinforcements.
POWDERED COATED
Our powder coat finish is much tougher than conventional paint to stand up to the rigors of mulching and helps prevent rusting.
STEP GRIP IN FRAME
The powder coated frame has multiple anti-slip pads and laser cut steps, giving the operator a secure footing for easy entry and exit from the cab.
6 FREE TEETH
All MS960 Brush Mulchers come with a free set of 6 replacement teeth. These replacement teeth can be convenienty stored in the enclosed spare tool compartment.
ENHANCED OPERATOR VISIBILITY
The improved design of the MS960 mulcher head now allows the operator better visibility to the area you are mulching.
IMPROVED WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
To improve the weight management of the Brush Mulcher, the MS960 is now designed with the rotor closer to the carrier. This unique design feature allows for smaller carriers to be able to manage a larger mulcher.
EASY ACCESS GREASE FITTINGS
Reduce your regular maintenance time by easily greasing the bearings on the MS960 from outside the frame. No tools required.

What Is A Case Drain Line ?
On most skidsteer and excavator Hydraulic systems, Hydraulic motors and pumps require a case drain line. Sometimes referred to as a third line, the case drain line will relieve any excess pressure and drain it back to your return line, then into the reservoir. Without a properly installed case drain, that extra pressure could blow a seal or damage your hydraulic line. For higher flow motors or on piston and gear motors, a case drain line is always required. Although, no matter the size of your motor, a case drain is always a good idea as it will relieve the amount of pressure on your shaft seal, helping to prolong its life. A case drain line can also increase the efficiency of your hydraulic system as it will lower the back pressure on the tank line.
Since most machines have a unique style of coupler, BaumaLight does not include a coupler on our case drain line, although they are available. If your skidsteer is not equipped with a case drain, then it can be field installed.
How Important Is A Case Drain Line ?
If we say having a case drain is critical and you operate without one, you will blow out your shaft seal. Be sure to check the motor sizing charts on our website.
Exception If You Have A Hammer Valve
There is one exception in the need for a case drain on gear motors and that is if you excavator is equipped with a hammer valve, this is a larger free flow line back to tank.
Identifying Your Case Drain Line
The following galleries show a highlighted case drain line on multiple skidsteer and excavator models.
Planer Tooth Style
The Planer style tooth feeds its appetite for brush bit by bit, taking small bites and providing the most efficient mulching and cutting. Although planer style teeth are efficient, their flat profile make them vulnerable to shattering on impact with rocks and other debris. For that reason, this style of tooth is recommended for cutting applications where efficiency is more important than tooth life. Planer teeth are bolt-on replaceable for quick and easy servicing and replacement even in the field.
Ripper Tooth Style
Ripper style teeth is a general use tooth, offering operators a shredding mulching action. Their v-shaped design makes them less susceptible to impacts with hard objects like stones, making them the better choice when mulching below grade and in fence lines. Ripper teeth are bolt-on replaceable for quick and easy servicing and replacement even in the field.
