MS972 Heavy Duty Fixed Tooth Mulcher for Skidsteer
The MS972 Baumalight brush mulcher is much like our MS960 only wider featuring a 72” rotor and 84” path width.
It has the same teeth and like the MS960 also has replaceable wear plates and a very short frame which brings the weight closer to the skidsteer allowing very productive mulching with a smaller track machine or wheeled skidsteer.
Operating a Brush Mulcher from a skid steer is probably the most comfortable way for vegetation management as your work is directly in front of you and new skidsteers are very operator comfort focused.
See our brush cutting size chart to see what limb size this heavy duty skidsteer mounted forestry mulcher can handle.

INTEGRATED PUSH BAR
When push comes to shove, the integrated push bar helps control
DIRECTIONAL FELLING HOOK
Built into the pusher bar, the directional felling hook will directionally control wayward trees, sprawling clumps and low hanging limbs.
ADJUSTABLE SKID SHOES
The two replaceable skid shoes allow the operator to adjust the cutting height for optimal clearing performance.
ROLL BACK TO FELL STANDING TREES
The MS972’s frame is angled so that you can roll back the Brushy Mulcher, pulling back the pusher bar so that you can fully engage the mulching head. This allows the operator to use the mulching head to fell standing trees.
SPRING LOADED HOSE SUPPORT
Take full advantage of the forward curl and roll back of the MS972 without risking expensive damage to the hoses. Unique to the Baumalight Brush Mulcher, the spring loaded hose support prevents the hoses from falling into harm’s way during forward curl.
OPTIONAL TWO-SPEED MOTOR
To maximize the rotor speed and torque to account for changing mulching material, the MS972 is available with a variable two-speed motor option.
CURVED HOSE BRACKET
The new curved host bracket provides better support of the hose while reducing the risk of pinching or chafing.
ARMOURED AND SLEEVED
Baumalight hoses are sleeved for the operator and hose protection. A pivoting arm is also standard with a greasable pin keeping the slack out of the way which protects the hoses from dangerous pinching and strain.
CENTERED ADJUSTABLE HOSE SUPPORT
To accomodate for different skidsteers that have the couplers on different sides, the MS972’s hose support is positioned close to the centre of the mulching head and has an adjustable hose.
ADJUSTABLE BELT TENSIONER
The adjustable belt tensioner ensures the proper tension of your belts, with no extra idler wheel that could wear out. Simply loosen the bolts and raise the motor mount to tighten the belt.
PRESSURE GUAGE
Large PSI pressure guage for maintaining the optimal flow that gives you a clear indication of the most efficient brush mulching performance.
CASE DRAIN – BURST DISK
To prevent pressure relief activation on the motor seal, the MS972 comes with a case drain line and a burst disk valve. In the event there is a spike in pressure in your hydraulic lines, the case drain will relieve the pressure and drain it back into the return line and back to the tank. If the connection of the case drain (third line) is missed, then the case drain will blow which is easily fixed. A properly installed case drain protected by a burst disk will save the work of replacing your shaft seal and also improve the efficiency of your hydraulic system.
WIRE PROTECTION KIT
If you are mulching and you catch some old fence wire, it can really cause damage to the unit if the wire slips over the edge of the rotor and gets wrapped around the shaft. The wire can get bunched against the bearings, causing major damage. Our wire protection kit contains a welded raised area on the end of the rotor that protects the shaft and prevents wire from getting in.
CHAIN CURTAIN
The rear of the unit is guarded by a 3/8” thick chain curtain so standing brush enters and mulched debris exits.
HEAVY DUTY FRAME
Now completely redesigned for the 900 series Brush Mulcher, the heavy duty steel frame is constructed with T1 alloy tool steel sheet metal.
HEAVY DUTY SKIDSTEER PLATE
Also redesigned for the 900 Series Brush Mulcher, the skidsteer plate is constructed with heavy duty steel with lots of gusseting and reinforcements.
POWDERED COATED
Our powder coat finish is much tougher than conventional paint to stand up to the rigors of mulching and helps prevent rusting.
STEP GRIP IN FRAME
The powder coated frame has multiple anti-slip pads and laser cut steps, giving the operator a secure footing for easy entry and exit from the cab.
6 FREE TEETH
All MS972 Brush Mulchers come with a free set of 6 replacement teeth. These replacement teeth can be convenienty stored in the enclosed spare tool compartment.
ENHANCED OPERATOR VISIBILITY
The improved design of the MS972 mulcher head now allows the operator better visibility to the area you are mulching.
IMPROVED WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
To improve the weight management of the Brush Mulcher, the MS972 is now designed with the rotor closer to the carrier. This unique design feature allows for smaller carriers to be able to manage a larger mulcher.
REPLACEABLE BOLT-IN WEAR PLATES
Save time by easily replacing the AR400 steel wear plates on the MS972 without needing to remove the rotor.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT HYDRAULIC MOTOR FOR YOUR BRUSH MULCHER
The most important part of choosing the right Brush Mulcher is pairing the correct motor option to your equipment. Choosing the right style of motor will make a huge difference in your performance and mulching capability. Watch our motor options video where we explain how to use our charts to determine which motor is right for you. Then click the link below to learn more about our 3 types of motors.

Planer Tooth Style
The Planer style tooth feeds its appetite for brush bit by bit, taking small bites and providing the most efficient mulching and cutting. Although planer style teeth are efficient, their flat profile make them vulnerable to shattering on impact with rocks and other debris. For that reason, this style of tooth is recommended for cutting applications where efficiency is more important than tooth life. Planer teeth are bolt-on replaceable for quick and easy servicing and replacement even in the field.
Ripper Tooth Style
Ripper style teeth is a general use tooth, offering operators a shredding mulching action. Their v-shaped design makes them less susceptible to impacts with hard objects like stones, making them the better choice when mulching below grade and in fence lines. Ripper teeth are bolt-on replaceable for quick and easy servicing and replacement even in the field.
